{Stevie, 4 days new} | Highlands Ranch Newborn Photographer

Watching families fall in love is the best part about my job.  If you have had kids, you know the feeling of having your first baby come home with you.  Your family is redefined.  You know real, true, intensely protective love for the first time.  It's beautiful to witness.

Meet Princess Stevie and her stunning family.

Her mommy owns and teaches at Pure Barre Greenwood Village.  If you haven't heard of Pure Barre or even if you have- check it out!  I am so excited for taking classes there to get back into shape once our little one arrives.

I'm still here!  Brink Street Photography is still alive and kicking (and still booking!)

Oye.  Time flies when you're having fun, right?  I can't believe how I've neglected my poor blog.  We've had a very very busy beginning of the year.  We are expecting #4 any day now. I'm 38 weeks today. That's me and out little one up there!

Our family (the whole big family) made the decision after several difficult months and a lot of praying that it was time to move my grandmother (the one who lived with us) to a nursing home.  Her needs were becoming greater than we could offer on our own, and we want her safety to be the first priority.  She moved last month and is settling in beautifully.  We miss having her in the day to day, but we get to go see her a few times a week.  Talk about a lot of change, right?  We also bought a van to fit the new size of our crew, and will be moving before the end of the summer.  Don't worry though!  We will still be in the Denver area.

I have a TON of sessions to share with you- and then before we know it I will be gushing over our new arrival.  I can't wait to dive into sharing images.  Posts will be coming up every few days.

Years go too fast.  I really feel like I just did Mister Carter's newborn photos just a few days ago, and here he is One year old!  Aren't his little eyes stunning??

I'll just say... we laughed a lot at this session.  We always have a great time with these guys- they have 5 kids, we want 4 or 5 kids, they homeschool, we homeschool, they like wine, we like wine....  Like I said, we have a great time together.   Plus I just adore them.  And they are one of the most gorgeous families ever.

Jonas | Littleton Child Photographer

My kids grow too fast.  I see them every day, and yet they are reaching milestones all too quickly, and all I can see sometimes is that before I know it they won't be little anymore.  Embracing every moment is so important to me.  You can imagine if I see my kids every  day and they are growing too fast, how very quickly little ones who I only see once a year, or every few months, grow. Jonas just turned 2.  He was just a peanut when he was born, and it was amazing how much he had grown when he turned one.  Now he's TWO!  He's gorgeous and I absolutely loved spending some time with him again.  He loved roaring at me like a dinosaur (One of my favorite games with little boys who are shy....) and discovering the world around him.

I'm so excited for the next time we see each other!

Catching up | Parker Child Photography

It's been a whirlwind month here.  We had a trip to Texas, tons of beautiful sessions and a wonderful wedding (lots of blog posts coming soon), we had Teagan's injury, and we had a scary health scare with my grandmother that we care for.  She is mostly better now, but adjusting to our new normal has slowed me down a bit.  We had planned to start homeschool this week, but with everything we are holding off until August 1st.  I cannot WAIT to share our adventures in homeschooling.  We are so excited and nervous and and and.  I'm seeing all the school supplies popping up at Target and I am getting giddy.  I get to make our own school supply list.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets as excited about school supplies as I do about Christmas gifts.... Anyone?

I am so thrilled that I got to spend the evening with these beautiful kiddos last month.  They are so fun.  Little 18-24 month olds are a blast to capture because there is lots of chasing and making goofy noises and shooting fast.  They are anxious to explore the world around them.  No posing or pressure, just fun.  Sweet little girls are fun for a whole other reason.  They pose, they smile, they want to help- I love it.  It's a great combo.

{Good Family} | Stapleton Family Photographer

I know I have said it many times before, but it is an honor to be part of a family's birth story.  It's a bonding experience, and one that very very few people in their life get to take part in.  That said, my birth families have a extremely special place in my heart.   Do you remember just after Thanksgiving when this little guy made his way into the world?  They are one of the most wonderful families I have ever been blessed to know.  They love each other desperately.  Every moment they are teaching their kids. Heck, Daddy willingly took several mosquito bites just to show how they went about getting blood from the body.

They have grown so much- time just goes way too fast for my liking.  I giggled the entire time I edited these- how fun is it that they all made funny faces?  Even baby brother got in on the funny face action!

Stapleton Family Photographer

I love them all.  And they are moving.  I am so sad- but hopeful that we will be able to still see each other now and then.

Starting summer with a bang.

Or at least a buckle fracture.  Tibia and Fibula.

blogbreak

Our sweet little Teagan broke her leg this week.  No major or dramatic story, just landing wrong stepping off a toy.  It's crazy how that can happen, isn't it?  They can tumble and fall in ways that you are just certain they are broken- and they dust themselves off and keep running.  But sometimes just the tiniest thing and a bone breaks. She has been such a trooper this whole adventure- and didn't even cry when they were poking on her.  She just glared at them until I scooped her up.  Then the tears came.  She is amazing.  We just keep laughing when the medical staff says she's tough.  She has to be!  She's number 3 with an older sister who loves to dress her up and a brother who LOVE to wrestle with her.

webSassypants

She's LOVING all the attention, even though the fact that she can't run is making her crazy.  She's crawling around like a mad woman though, and they gave her a walking shoe so that she can get back to walking soon.  That also meant she got her very first sneakers yesterday (to balance the height of the cast) and she got to pick which ones she wanted- so she picked the brightest, most glittery, busiest ones they had.  AND they match her cast.  Teagan, you're a hoot.  Best part about the cast though?  We can get it wet!  They have an option for water-friendly casts now.  Talk about making mommy's life easier.  Do you remember wrapping casts in garbage bags and putting bands around the top super tight so that water wouldn't get in?  And forget water fun in the summer with a cast.  I'm so thankful for this option!  Keeping a toddler dry in the summer is nearly impossible.  And baths?  Oh am I glad we can give her baths!

webCasted

I'm challenging myself to take a photo a day during this month of her in a cast.  just for fun- and because *hopefully* this is a once in a lifetime kind of thing.

{Ilias-4 months} | Stapleton Denver Baby Photographer

I LOVE my little baby planners!  It's so amazing to see these little guys their first year, when they are first born, when they are holding their head up and smiling lots, sitting up, and then standing.  Do you remember this stunning little guy?  He's so much fun- and he has grown like crazy!  I absolutely love spending time with his family.  I love the way he made so many fun faces.  So much personality.  I adore him.

I just want to squeeze him.  I squealed when I saw him- can you blame me?

These little boys have the prettiest hair color EVER.  It's so pretty it doesn't look real.  I'm totally jealous.

Denver Aurora Children's Photographer

I absolutely love putting little boys in their element.  They find the coolest things when we do sessions out in places they can explore naturally.  We spend a lot more time seeing what we can find than we do shooting- and I love it. We saw a baby bunny, ducks swimming, played with rolley poley bugs, avoided ants and just had a grand old time.  Just don't try to make me hold a worm.  I freak out.

Despite oncoming colds, they were such awesome little guys- and I am so glad that we got to play together!

Firsts... | Mine

I don't post a lot about us.  I admit, it's because often, things just get set on the back burner.  I put other people's images first- which is not at all a bad thing, but I have ignored my own.  I took advantage of a snapfish deal last week (Their quality is NOT good, but might be decent enough for scrapbooks)- and I struggled to find 365 images that had been touched of my kids.  I have over 4000- and I haven't even touched 300?  It was then I had a moment of realizing that they don't have to be "Hangers" to be edited.  I need to go through and not even edit, but switch these images to JPEG of my kids that are not things that I normally want to share.  Pictures of them covered in dirt just wearing a t-shirt, them playing in their toy-strewn playroom, pictures of their hair all wonky and remnants of lunch on their little cheeks.   Then I need to print them.  Print them and scrapbook them, print them, and even if I just toss them in to a little slip in album have them somewhere to share.  Heck, I should just make a "Moments in between" album- a year of imperfection.  Unbrushed hair, first lost teeth, first pigtails, messy toy rooms.

You see, I'm nuts about my family.  Absolutely in love with them.  And when I have a spare moment, I spend it with them. But I will try to be better about sharing more of me, of us.  I am so blessed to get to know so many of you- I should let you get to know me too!

So lots of firsts this week in the house.  Hailey lost her first tooth (I cried.  In fact, I'm still a mess about it.  It's evidence that my baby is growing up too fast)

webFirst Tooth

Noah had his first barber shop haircut.  We usually take him to the places where they get to eat lollipops and watch movies while they get their haircut, but instead he sat in a big boy chair and held still the whole time.  I'm so proud of him!  This is him with his Papa- who he loves like crazy!

webPapa

And Teagan had her first real pigtails.

webPigtails

So I am going to try to be better about doing maybe a "Mine on Monday" or something.  You get to know us, and I have a really great reason to edit some of our pictures!

Little Mister Christopher {5 days new} | Denver Newborn Photographer

We had a beautiful Mother's day yesterday.  The kids were so excited it was mothers day that they were up by 6:30.  Then they (Daddy) made me breakfast in bed!  The eggs even were in a smiley face.  They each gave me a card.  What I love about the cards is that my husband, Chris, lets them choose WHATEVER card they want.  From any section at all.  It makes it that much more special- and we laugh the whole time we open them because they are never from the section they "should" be from.  Hailey got a card that was a happy birthday to a sister (It had two lovely teddy bears hugging on the front), Noah picked an anniversary card with two monkeys that were hugging, and Teagan picked a card that was from a mother to her son.  I just laugh- we always date the back and put the occasion they picked.  It's unique and I love the way my husband thinks.  He gives them the freedom to choose, and they come back with things that fit for them. Then we got to spend the day enjoying the amazing weather.  I don't know that we spent more than 10 minutes inside before it was dark.

I have so enjoyed my time with this wonderful family.  Their new little man is so sweet, and so alert!  He made me work, but I loved every minute of it.  We got to try some new things too- I'm so excited.  Doing this session helped me to officially decide to expand my education.  This fall I am going to spend a weekend learning how to do newborns even better.  It's going to be fantastic!

I just love them

Redmond Birth 2011 | Denver Birth Photography

I know I say it a lot, but I love my job.  I love that I am chosen, from so many talented photographers, to share people's lives.  There is no higher honor than that.  I love that the people I shoot let me be a part of their family for a few hours of their life.

Remember the gorgeous maternity's from March?  Well the little guy decided he didn't want to turn over!  That's right- he decided to be breech.  The difficult decision was made to schedule a c-section for his arrival, since he had zero intention of flipping over.  The hospital has a strict 1-person-only policy for c-sections, so both of us were worried that the birth wouldn't be captured the way we had hoped.  So Nicole asked her doctor and the hospital if I could be in the room.  What's the worst they could say?  We didn't even know for certain what the answer was until just minutes before the surgery- I think that the anesthesiologist was worried that I wouldn't be considerate of a medical procedure. (Note to photographers- make sure you let medical staff know that you will stay out of the way and only in the spaces they designate as appropriate.  It goes a REALLY long way to be respectful)

With C-Sections, everything moves pretty quickly.  It's really amazing to watch.  And then.... They arrive.  I have a mask on to hide my tears.  Babies coming in to the world... I can't help but be overjoyed.  Especially for families whom I have grown to know and love.  Daddy's first glimpse, Mommy's.  Together those first moments- I wish I had adequate words.

webRB100

When everything settled down, big brother got to meet baby brother.  When they are so little- like mine, these two kiddos are a little less than 2 years apart- the older kids don't know what to think of Mommy being strapped in to a bed.  I'm sure all of those cords are scary.

Denver Birth Photographer

Oh- and you were SERIOUS about a baby in your tummy?  WHAAAAT do you mean we get to keep him?

Stapleton Birth Photographer

Then love.

Some of my favorite people | Denver Maternity Photographer

Close to 5 years ago, because of an accident at a daycare, I got the chance to meet, get to know, and love this family.  My goodness how they have grown.  We had our second babies around the same time, and since then we don't see each other nearly enough.  Our oldest girls love each other.  They were just babies when they saw each other every day, yet even when there are months between visits they still are thick as thieves when they are together.    Our 3 year olds are both sassy and adorable- it's so fun to watch all of them together (Even when they are all freezing!)

Thank you Beth for allowing me to be part of your wonderful lives.  I love you all and I am so excited for this new baby boy to become part of your family.

{Xander, 10 days new} | Stapleton Newborn Photographer

Meet little Mr. X.  I have been so blessed to meet so many new babies lately!  Xander was so sweet and awake during our session.  I don't think I have ever gotten so much eye contact from a newborn before- it was neat to watch him just take in everything going on!  He slept for about 20 minutes, then when I switched backgrounds he gave us a cute little yawn and was awake again.  Such a sweetheart.
