{Nicole, 35 weeks} | Denver Maternity Photographer

I've been looking forward to this session for a couple of months now.  Nicole contacted me in January about documenting the birth of their new baby, and I was blessed enough to be chosen for that special day.  One of the best things about birth photography is getting to know a family as they grow.  You get, for a few days, to capture their life. Being part of that is... probably the most special and honoring experience one could have.  I well up thinking about it.  I even got a little smooch on the cheek from that cutie down there in those pictures.  He made my day!

Denver Maternity Birth Photographer

Is she not one of the most beautiful pregnant women ever?  This family is just beautiful all around.  It was a joy to spend time with them- we had a great time.  I had to go home and jam out to Fresh Beat Band with my kiddos!  Thank you so much R Family.

What to Wear | Stapleton Family Photographer

I get asked a LOT for ideas for what to wear for a family session.  The one thing I have to emphatically insist is that you DO NOT match! COORDINATE!  Unless you dress the in the same outfits every day of the year, I don't want you to match in pictures.  I want to capture you, just kicked up a notch.  I'm a T-shirt and jeans kind of gal.  So for pictures, unless we are going dressier, I wear jeans.  But instead of just a day to day t-shirt, I go get a fancy (AKA nicer than a t-shirt but still cotton and comfy) shirt, rock out some jewelry, and toss on some boots instead of my day-to-day slip ons.

If you love skirts, wear that!  Dress your kids up in something that is THEM, not matching, but tying it all together.  Pick a common thread.  Love pink?  Have pink thread through your outfits.  Your girls in dresses with pink flowers, your boys with pink ties or suspenders.  You could wear a cream colored top, and a pink necklace and heels- your hubby with a pink tie or shirt. Speaking of ties and all things amazingly adorable.... go check out The Belle and The Beau ... painfully cute.

I wanted to include a few ideas of what I mean.  These are courtesy of Inspire Me Baby, but if you like ideas on what to wear, leave a comment and I will start putting together ideas every week.

{Sarene, day 7} | Parker Newborn Baby Photographer

Do you ever have the moment when you see something and know that it is just going to be perfect?  Even at her mommy's maternity sessions I just knew she would be beautiful, but how beautiful I couldn't have guessed.  Petite and precious- I don't think I have EVER seen a baby have such beautiful skin so new.  Little miss Sarene was an absolute joy, enough so that we just kept playing!

She smiled every single time I changed her pose.  I think she is a born performer, right down to her beautiful little feet.

Shannon and Matt, thank you for letting me part of your journey as parents.  I am blessed to have you as clients and now as friends.

(This one is my favorite so far!!)

{Baby I} | Denver Stapleton Newborn Photographer

Newborns make me giddy.  Like, lets do a dance in the middle of a store giddy.  This little one was no different- and I fell in love the moment I got to snuggle him.  It's always hard for me after I leave a session- because even though we only spend a few hours together I miss those sweet little ones after I leave.  I'm so lucky to get to see them again when we have our in-home viewing sessions. It is so cool to capture a new family in their home.  The way they are comfortable in their own space, that everyone can relax, is one of my favorite things about traveling to people.  It's also exciting to capture them in their environment as it is now, knowing that it will change as time passes.  How cool is it that you can look back and see what your life was in that moment?  I absolutely love it.

Can you believe all that hair?  An amazing, happy, BEAUTIFUL baby.  Even though it took a while for him to fall asleep, he was happy the whole time.  I am truly blessed to have gotten to spend a few hours with him and his family.

{G Family} | Denver Newborn and Family Photographer

After capturing the birth of little baby G, I was SO thrilled to get to spend more time with this family!  We had so much fun.  You can't beat a sweet, beautiful, perfectly sleepy little newborn followed by peek-a-boo under pillows and playing outside with kids.

I just adore this family!  I love that we got to do newborn images, as well as family ones.  They are all my favorite things wrapped into one!

And are they not a completely stunning family?  Cuties everywhere you look!

{Baby G} | Denver Birth Photographer

I'm not always great at expressing an experience in writing.   I can tell you though, that I have been more blessed by knowing this beautiful family in the last several weeks than I could have known.  The first time we talked on the phone it became a 20 minute conversation about how much we love our kids.  They are the kind of family that love each other so much that it makes you want to adopt a child, the kind of family that reminds you that love isn't decided on by the blood you share- but the bonds you share. I have always wanted to attend a scheduled c-section, but have always assumed that it would be a very stiff and sterile environment- different from the births I have attended in the past.  I was very mistaken.  There was so much joy in the room, such warmth- just like any other birth.  Smiles, anticipation, and tears.  The only difference is we knew what time this little one would arrive!  It was amazing- and SO cool to see the procedure.  Coolest part?  Little one's gender was a surprise!

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your amazing day.  Thank you for letting me spend a couple of days with your beautiful family.  I am so very blessed to know you all.

Remember this beautiful mommy and her boys?  This is their newest addition- and he is just as gorgeous as the rest of the family!  He was such a great baby at our session.  Even big brother wanted to get in on the pictures.  I only wish that biggest brother had been there to play too- but school came first.

Don't you just want to snuggle them up??

You know the best thing about turning one??

Loveland Baby Photographer

That you get your own birthday cake of course!!

I got to meet this little guy for the first time on Saturday- and I have to tell you- he is  stinking cute!  I walked into the house and he reached for me... talk about melting your heart.  He is only a few days younger than my youngest, and we have been looking forward to this session for a year.  He is a special, long awaited gift for his mommy and daddy- and I have been dying to meet him since the day he was born!  We tried to stay inside as long as we could, because it was COLD outside.  It was supposed to be close to 60* and it was only 30* +  wind chill!  BRRRRR!

Loveland Family Photographer

He had no fear with his cake.  It was about the funniest thing ever and we giggled the whole time he ate it.  One taste, and he realized his hands wouldn't do the job.  Only a mouth can handle such goodness!  After we made a delicious mess, a tubby was in order.  There's nothing quiet like being all shiny and clean after some tasty cake.

{Sweet baby A} | Denver & Fort Collins Baby Photographer

**CUTE BABY ALERT!!**

I love babies.  In fact, my favorite things in the whole world happens to be babies (They qualify as babies for much longer in my brain than you'd think) .  And I can't help but snuggle and kiss and play with them.  I say WAY too many times how cute they are (Because my goodness- how can you not??).  I love a little something about every single age.  From the moment they are born they are so special.  Every moment they are around brings something new, amazing, and memorable.  I get all weepy thinking about it- because it is there and gone in a flash.  So every time I get to see a baby I relish in the little things that are there just for the moment.

This little cutey is 3 1/2 months old and about as sweet as they come.  She was about the happiest baby ever.  Even when she was spent from our shoot, she made one little whimper and was done.  What a blessing!  Could they be any more precious than she is?  I just wanted to squeeze her perfect little cheekies.  Even the kitty cat got in on the action and gave me eye contact.  We braved the chilly outdoors for a few minutes- with little miss A all bundled until just before we took a few pictures.  Such a trooper!

{ F Family } | Denver Family Photographer

So earlier this year, I did mini sessions for Valentine's Day and I have the privilege of capturing these kiddos.  I can't believe how much they have grown already- and now miss L has brand new front teeth!  I had completely forgotten that she had recently lost them at our last session.  The beauty of photos, right?  This daddy better have one heck of a baseball bat collection- because their kids?  All beautiful.

We had gorgeous weather, and they all rocked out the session, even when we had a mishap and needed bandaids.  Note to self: Bring bandaids!

I always have fun with the F Family, and I am tremendously blessed to call them friends.  Thank you all for playing in the mountains with me!

Just a couple more | Denver Child Photographer

Colorado finally got a little fall weather!  Yesterday was the first snow of the season, and one of my favorite days of the year.  You know, before we all get sick of the snow and want it to be warm again.  Actually- I love the chilly weather.  It's a great excuse to break out scarves, hats, gloves and super cute jackets.  Plus... Hot Chocolate just doesn't taste as good when it's warm out. Looking at the forecast, we decided to do our little follow up session a day earlier than anticipated.  Boy am I glad we did- because the weather was NASTY at the time we were going to meet yesterday!  Monday, on the other hand, was 75*, mildly breezy (until we handed Mr. W the balloons again- then it picked up of course... hahaha), and the light was just yummy.

Thanks for coming out again and braving the crazy squirrels and goose poo!  I'm so glad I got to see you guys again!

{R Family} | Denver Family Photographer

I have to admit something.... I had to call my husband right after I met this gorgeous family to tell him just that.  It makes me absolutely giddy that I have such gorgeous clients- and what tops it all off is that they are just about the most wonderful people in the world.  I am so very glad that you chose me R family.  I had a great time playing and laughing with all of you.

The wind worked against us first thing in the morning.  We met at Red Rocks Amphitheater to start our morning session, and what was supposed to be a warm, sunny day, was a really chilly gusty one.  So we headed to our second location to start- crossing our fingers that the wind would die down.  Well, it was better at the second location, and we decided to play and let the kids warm up to me and the camera for a little while.  We had a plan to have little Mr. W hold some balloons since he just turned one.  Well....  We got him all set, tied the balloons to his belt loop, stepped away, and before I could snap 2 pictures, a gust of wind sucked all 10 balloons into the sky.  Bummer.  His big sister was crushed, and we were disappointed that it didn't work out.  So we are going to try balloons round 2 a little later this week!

Aren't they beautiful?

Another beautiful Embrace and family session.  I watched these kiddos when they were younger than my kids are now!  It makes me tear up how big they are.  Aren't they beautiful?  This family has blessed me beyond measure and I am so thankful that they allowed me the opportunity to capture their family.

Did you know that in every single one of my Embrace sessions- the couples have met as teenagers?  Cool right?

Loveland Couple Photographer

I love to laugh at our sessions.  And I do my best to make sure that we have a lot of fun.  One of my favorite things about the end of this session is that the kids did some cartwheels for me.  I think it is pretty darn cool how they turned out!

{Lovies} | Denver Portrait Photographer

When planning a session with a client, I always encourage them to bring items that make them "them".  Since I photograph so many children- lovies, blankies, binky's and other comfort creatures are part of those items.  Often- mom and dad want to leave this beloved possession behind- afraid it will ruin the picture.  I disagree.  Those are what make an image.  Your baby will be too big for those security items before you know it.  We aim to photograph you as you are NOW. Your little one can't leave the house without that superman cape around his shoulders?  Your princess must always have on her Sleeping Beauty heels?  Your sweet little baby needs her tigger or his taggy blanket ever dragging behind them?  Bring them to our session.  They are a part of your family too- no matter how threadbare, dirty, or worn they might be.  After all, what would the story be like without the Velveteen rabbit?

{M Family} | Loveland Family Photographer

It was like we were at the running of the photographers the day we did this session.  There were at least 8 of us at this little mountain park.  Fortunately- all the photographers in the park were awesome sauce and we all stayed out of one another's way- almost like we had this silent "You go this way, I'll go that".  Yay for great photogs!

I don't think I have had so many beautiful people all in one session before.  Seriously- I was in photographer heaven.   I don't think any of them could look "bad" if they tried.  The coolest part?  Mom and Dad are celebrating 35 years of marriage- so the kids bought them this session as a surprise.  Heck yes!  What a cool gift!  Family pictures that not only showed how in love they still are- but pictures of all the kids too.

Thank you so much M Family for allowing me to capture your relationships.  I am honored to have met all of you.
